Definition

  ① salivary ductal system에서 발생한 calcified structures
  ② duct lumen안에 있던 calcium salt의 침착으로 발생하는 것으로 보임

Clinical and radiographic feature

  ① submandibular gland에서 호발
  ② parotid gland system안에 stone의 형성은 less frequent
  ③ major gl경우 식사 시 episodic pain or swelling of affected gl  
  ④ lesion의 calcified에 의해 X-ray조사시 radiopaque

Histopatholgic features

  ① round, oval, cyclindrical한 hard mass
  ②  보통 yellow 이거나 white or yellowish-brown
  ③ 현미경관찰시 calcified masss는 괴사물지로 둘러싸인 부정형의 laminaton관찰

Treatment and prognosis

  ① 작은 병소인 경우 마사지를 해준다.
  ② 병소가 클 경우엔 외과적 절제가 필요하다.
